It goes without saying that Google Drive and Dropbox serve you like regular folders on your iPad or iPhone as iOS 11`s Files app integrates these services. But did you know that you can actually change the default storage location for files that were created within different apps? Now, you can choose anything, even Dropbox, as a default location for everything you are going to save.
What are the document default locations in iOS 11?
There are different types of storage location in iOS 11. There are local and cloud storage. Moreover, apps can also provide some storage spaces by themselves that makes it possible to browse in Files. An app can organize its folders and files, and make them available to other apps.
Just pick another default location
If you, for example, want to save all your Pages files in Dropbox, instead of in the default iCloud Drive, you have to take several steps. First of all, launch Setting app on the iOS 11 device. Tap on the one of your installed apps that offers the need to store files, and make sure that it has built-in functionality to write files to a location. Then, select Document Storage. You will see a variety of options, which are based on the services and apps that were installed on your device. Choose whichever service you want the files for the app to be saved to by default. You should remember that it is important to use iCloud Drive in order not to lose the automatic sync of your documents between devices.
Consider your options before switching things up
This feature is not reliable enough but the storage has become more powerful, more flexible, and easier to use. What is more, you can easily access, find, and open your files no matter where they were stored as the Files app presents all these different kinds of storage as simple folders.
